The entire Jerusalem counsel was built on an issue that sprung forth regarding theologically informed ethnic supremacy. Issue: One must become a Jew in order to be accepted into family of God and inherit the benefits of God’s covenantal people. But what did it mean to be a Jew?
But again, it matters what circumcision is and what it signifies. It signifies ethnic identity. One was Jewish by Circumcision. One was a “gentile dog” without it. There is more there than what’s on the surface. The text is driving at much more. It’s all in the text & wording

What does “circumcision of the flesh mean”? What does circumcision in Christ mean?” Why is this controversial? What does it mean regarding the Kingdom and its place within Acts? It means that Faith not ethnic identity determines ones status before God. That’s huge, sis.

-
Yes, faith not ethnic identity before God, but I still feel this is more about grace vs tablet law because it’s more of a God-thing rather than a race-thing. Also, some Jews were perfect under the law, but that’s another story pertaining to why legalism is false doctrine.

-
Definitely disagree with you on the idea that some were “perfect under the law”. If that was the case than their would be no need for Jesus, the Gospel, & much of The New Testsment doesn’t make sense. As far as other thing, I think ethnicity is more significant than many think.

They were perfect in tablet law, but did not have the conscienceness of the flesh. I explain that here:https://awomansaved.com/moment-of-truth-casting-down-lies-10-no-one-has-ever-kept-the-law/ …

Will definitely give it a read when I can, sis. Thanks for engaging! I have some article deadlines I gotta get in. Blessings to you!

Since you’re so tight on deadlines, here’s just one of the scriptures I post in that article: These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and ==>perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. ~Genesis 6:9 KJV
-
Ah, gotcha. I think you are reading too much into that “perfect” language. That term is used different than how we understand it. Noah got drunk and cursed one of his sons, not really perfect. Christ is the only perfect man who has kept law perfectly. That’s what makes him Savior

I’m curious to hear how you understand the need for Christ and the Gospel if you believe perfection is attainable by us without him, or you think some were perfect. I’m sure your article will engage more. Will check it out.

I think it’s about all of the above. To say it’s just about circumcision is overly simplistic in my view. It’s about so much more. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
