Andrew Brasher has worst record of any Trump judicial nominee, and that's hard to do. ❌Opposes VRA ❌Defended race-based redistricting ❌Opposed formerly incarcerated voting ❌Required citizenship proof to register ❌Excluded non-citizens from Census

Never mind the bipartisan vote to remove the president from office, Mitch is right back to confirming Trump's judicial nominees. This one happens to be 38 years old w/ an extraordinary record opposing civil & human rights

A former prosecutor realizing on camera that being a former prosecutor doesn’t guarantee electability anymore. And the whole “a prosecutor’s job is to do justice” slogan is so worn and untrue. Prosecutors are fallible human beings, with the same failings as everyone else.

This scenario you find facially absurd is something criminal juries can and should do way more of

"Prosecutor" has long been a resume line item for the politically ambitious, a value-neutral way of showing both prestige and "public service." Finally, politicians are being asked about the harm they caused. Important from in :

Justice Sonia Sotomayor said this case reflects “an egregious breakdown of basic procedural safeguards.” delves into an all-too-common travesty.

How about instead of for-the-sake-of-appearance ethics rules, we talk honestly about how judges' beliefs, biases, & personal & professional experiences necessarily impact their decisions? I want to know more about what judicial nominees believe, not less.

Imagine being accused of a murder someone else confessed to. If you’re like Omar Ameen, and that evidence is on a suspended Twitter account, you’re not getting it.

In 1984 you prosecuted dear friends & colleagues of Dr. & Mrs. King in Alabama on untrue charges of voter fraud. secured an acquittal. Mrs. King wrote a devastating ltr to the Senate about you when you attempted to become a federal judge.

I personally know and am close with at least 3 people who worked for and were abused by Senator Klobuchar. Her abusive treatment of her staff is disqualifying and I’m really upset the NYT editorial board chose to overlook it.

When there’s an emergency, you disregard the law and do what’s morally correct. My latest for is about the connection between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Poor People Campaign, the collective in and running red lights.

Criminal violations are often discussed in moral terms, but decisions but judges and prosecutors rarely are. What's more immoral: bringing a cell phone into jail, or destroying a man's life and irreparably harming his family because he brought a cellphone into the jail?

This is absolute, utter insanity (and yes, ’s description of the case is accurate). There should be immense pressure on outgoing Gov to pardon Nash before he leaves office on Tuesday. If he doesn’t, incoming Gov should pardon him Wednesday.

This includes Linda Allen, whose misconduct -- an appeals court said she made false claims "made out of whole cloth" to the jury -- led to Jamal Trulove's wrongful conviction. Gascon let her try Trulove again. Boudin fired her.

Of the many horrifying details of this case, it isn't even an isolated case. The opinion finds support in two other instances in recent years of people getting 15 year sentences for having cell phones in correctional facilities. The American criminal justice system at work.

And the kicker? One of the prosecutors who sought this draconian sentence, Brian Burns, is now a state court judge. His plans for the new job? "Lean on the lord," and "pray pray pray," he said.
