It's all visual scripting (connect if->then nodes), good for beginners or designers. There are plenty blueprint tutorials to get started. gl

After checking out Game Maker I would also recommend that. It also uses visual scripting, so no programming required. Plus nice marketplace.

Yeah the thing that makes me less likely to use Unreal is that I don't feel confident I could make any 3D elements myself

You can also make a 2D game using sprites in Unreal, it has Paper2D included. But Game Maker is probably better suited for that + easier :)

Another tip, use free platformer engines from the marketplace in GameMaker as foundation, eg https://marketplace.yoyogames.com/assets/758/intermediate-platformer-engine … https://marketplace.yoyogames.com/assets/761/ropewater-physics-platformer …

How this works: You use these packs as basis for your project to deal with physics etc. then exchange sprites, add content and levels on top

Still you should begin with tutorials to understand the program. If you dont want to code search for those that use the Drag & Drop feature

thanks for these links--the unfortunate part is that I don't intend to dig in until I'm close to starting the streams in the fall
