That's the only way to make sense of it. They want to value mainstream media over the individuals who grew youtube from the ground up. It's like euthanizing the sled dogs who pulled you to the top of a mountain so you can hold up a sign promoting Hollywood.

Thats the best way Ive heard it put. Theyre covering thier asses so they arent seen as "endorsing" anyone with radical view points. Same thing happened to twitter. Thats why they nixxed verification too.
