Feeling bad about yourself? Start making a list of everything you've done. By this point in your career, you've done a lot, and a lot of it you've done pretty well!

the touristic imaginary has really fucked up the believability and awareness of Hawaiian struggles. all these ppl are out here thinking we just have luaus all day and laugh and drink with haoles after fire dancing on stage. meanwhile centuries of geno- and culturcide are erased.

Right now there’s a Hawaiian family fighting to save their ancestral land. Tryin to keep Hawaiian Lands in Hawaiian Hands. If you’ve got money to spare please help us save this ʻohana’s land. When we say keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands we don’t just mean Maunakea, all land

I don't know who needs to hear this but more people die from the flu in the US than have died in China from the coronavirus.

Just read that metastudy on insect collapse. So how bad is it? Prepare yourself for a From 73 studies: - Globally, 40% of insect species could go extinct. That's 40% of >1million species (compared to ~5,300 mammal) - Every year an additional 1% of species is threatened

I got into my top choice for the PhD on a Wednesday. The Eng dept sent me health insurance packets, where to live, school demographics. I was hella excited. On Friday, I got an email from the asst grad director telling me my acceptance was sent by mistake & was for someone else.
