Would also offer up this paper by myself and where we call attention to the productive parallel btw ethnography and data science, as “computational ethnography”

One of the best things I've heard from : We need to stop trying to continuously optimize broken technologies, and instead, start questioning their existence.

The anthropologist in me worries how much is missed when we study human-AI trust dynamics in the lab, not in real institutional contexts. Maybe we need a “Roles for Lab Experiments in Social Change” paper? Modeled after the must read paper :)

Great suggestion from on anti-technosolutionism: "Computer scientists are well-placed to tell policymakers what computing can't do!"

Thread of committing to interdisciplinarity at and mentions privilege of doing this work. Love seeing this reflexivity and wondering what voices are lost in this privileged space and in shaping its future (beyond bringing voices to indiv FAT projects)?

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen wonk data journalism focused just on black women (no comparison group), much less one that assumes we should have livability. Kudos to ⁦⁩ on this. (Plus, they worked with a sociologist on data analysis.)
