If Artifact becomes successful. No amount of fan complaints will have weight. Diversity your gaming portfolio.
-
already into 6s, 7s, HL, PvP, PvE, bumper car racing and hats. We're diverse enough as is.

That's like saying walmart is a superstore so you should never shop online hehe

That was only because of an invasion of an army of robots, and the ATH of 120K was actually beaten (on paper, again because robots), see https://twitter.com/wickedplayer494/status/1075597658948100096 ….

Shhhh; trying to persuade some of the dozens of DOTA2/CS:GO/Artifact coders to come over to the belaboured TF2 team.pic.twitter.com/tRBiDZE4js

It held those players for like, an hour, if that. They never joined any servers or played any matches. They're probably bots farming for their yearly stocking dude.
-
Here's the player count for all servers in the game for the last seven days. If those 100k players were real, it would at least be reflected SOMEWHERE.pic.twitter.com/b2Vsritfil

To be fair the point still stands - TF2's popularity would definitely increase if someone at Valve thought "hey maybe we should hire a dedicated dev team for one of our biggest IPs that still has a good economy and player count despite our not giving any fucks"
-
well, no. Their point was that the game is wildly successful despite not having any real Dev team, but it isn't nearly as popular as they say and to claim that those 100k players are real is kinda irresponsible or at the least duplicitous.
-
For context: Paladins has had more legitimate players than you guys this week. PALADINS.

1. Fair enough, that makes sense now that I think about it 2. fucking oof

Hey doods I often bite my tongue re: tf2 stuff on Twitter... But honestly the sentiment present in the community that "Valve doesn't care about TF2" has always pissed me off. Dissapointing to see you phrase it like "if Valve wanted it to succeed", STFU ofc they do! Disrespectful.
-
Valve employees work on whatever projects they want, everyone knows this. Only like 12 people are on the team and half of them are audio guys. The TF team cares. Valve as a whole are satisfied people keep buying keys for a game that runs on community content and a skeleton crew.
-
But at the same time if they wanted to celebrate/incentivize/introduce players to the game they would have ran some sort of official event or at the very least a tf2 side event at some point. People see what valve is capable of, so the notion they dont care is reasonable.
