Not only are they in the wrong, they're stupid.
There is no way to legislate "showing respect". It's especially difficult when one tries to do so by showing utter disrespect to the players, fans, the country, and the Constitution.

These players have a decision to make during the off season. They can come together & shut it down, or be controlled. This is not just about kneeling, it's about freedom of speech and control. The owners are using this rule to punish the team for another exercising their rights.

Without the players, there isn't an NFL, they have the power and they need to exert it. This is classic conquer and divide. All of the top players shld work with those who don't have lucrative contracts to make sure their finances are in order and SHUT DOWN the NFL!

So they’re forcing athletes to respect an object in order to make a bunch of racist fans feel vindicated? Allowing the players to exercise their rights and encouraging the fans to understand their real motivation would be 100% more American and patriotic.

I am actually quite amazed at the NFL. Their capitulation to Trump is a major mistake on many levels—Justice, freedom, human rights and extortion. I really respect the one owner who is standing up against this mandate. Kudos to him
