Agreed. Wondering if a GIS analysis which identifies the underserved population centers cross-referenced with the locations of the 84% of credit unions which offer no-fee checking accounts would be constructive? If there is a fit, maybe create an app to make the connect.

Corporations want to keep people poor and will never act to help low-income people. States and cities should create public banks so the people have access to free banking services.

Some Banks also charge people without accounts w them a fee to cash checks drawn on that institution BOFA and Chase among them.

We should open state banks, I know that we're talking about that in Washington State. In the absence, I've been with a credit union since 2001 and they meet all my needs. I don't really understand why anyone banks with the big for-profit entities anymore.

Credit unions provide fair and equitable banking services to all. More communities need access to credit unions. And more people need to join their local credit unions.

How about we encourage people and credit unions to become more accessible? Member driven financial institutions would be way better than mega-too big to fail banks.

Thank you for posting this. In 90's full-time good job. Single mom, 2 kids. Cost of day care & rent, plus basics kept me from being able to maintain minimum to keep open bank account. Happens to a lot of hard working folks.

I am sure they will recognize the error of their ways and use some of their tax windfall to avoid this fee. Uh, maybe not. BoF and Wells Fargo are both predatory.
