1/ We must fight the privatization of the criminal justice system. From private prisons to private probation companies, bad actors driven by profit motive are trampling on the constitutional rights of poor people and entangling them in never-ending cycles of debt. #cjreform
2/ A private probation company in Arkansas (#JusticeNetwork) raked in more than 500K by seeking the arrest of people for low-level violations like not attending their classes or inability to pay fees tied to their classes. Reform-minded judges terminated their abusive contract.
3/ On just one day in Aug 2016, more than 80% of people who appeared before a judge were jailed on warrants issued for failure to pay—not b/c of any criminal wrongdoing. The Judges terminated the company's contract and instituted an Amnesty Program to help those who couldn't pay.

4/ The private probation company sued the judges to protect their bottom line ($$$). We entered the case to stand with judges who were committed to repairing a broken system and ending Justice Network's money-making scheme. @LawyersComm
