States with Same Day Registration & strong vote by mail systems, often in place for decades, see high voter turnout.
States notorious for #VoterSuppression like TX, MS & TN, states that we SUED during the pandemic, rank dead last.
Can't help but think many places would see higher turnout if they weren't written off as "solid red" or "solid blue." Just my 2¢
Like Massachusetts? We set a new record for this election with 76% turnout, though the news story wasn’t clear if the % or the total number of voters was the record. That’s about 10% higher than the national average.

From the Northeast and asking out of curiosity...I thought that around Election Day, Texas had amazing voter turnout numbers...? wasn’t that what we were hearing in the media?
I think it's more, had a high voter turn out... for Texas. Dem organizers really went after registration this cycle. 2016 was 59%-ish. 2020 was 66%-ish. Minnesota was about 75% in 2016 and 80% in 2020. Some Twin Cities precincts approached 95% voter participation.
High turnout = mostly democratic Low turnout = mostly Republican This is why they do everything in their power to suppress votes.

Voter suppression is an issue, registration well mid-terms are 2 yrs out next presidental election 4 yrs damn people always have 2-4 yrs to register, Ijs.
But Tennessee did the best it's ever done for % of registered voters actually casting a vote in the 2020 Presidential election. So while we rank toward the bottom, this was still something of an achievement for our state in this uphill battle.
