BREAKING: The Wayne County Board of Canvassers just deadlocked 2-2 on certifying the vote. This is the unfortunate result of relentless and anti-democratic attempts to undermine the election, especially in an area home to large numbers of Black voters.
When county canvassers fail to certify results, the process (incl. all records and other info. pertaining to the election) moves to the board of state canvassers who have 10 days to certify. The costs for this borne by Wayne Cty MI taxpayers. Mich. Comp. Laws Ann. § 168.822
So what happens now?!
If they fail to validate the Detroit count, the question of who won will effectively be referred to the state board, which has until Dec. 13 to reach a final decision certifying the winner of the election statewide.
