As a civil rights lawyer who started off her career at the Justice Department, I can't underscore enough how outrageous it is that DOJ is challenging racial diversity on college & university campuses. Barr and Dreiband are bent on dragging this nation back to the Jim Crow era.
And this lawsuit is nothing more than a carefully coordinated scheme by DOJ to support Ed Blum, former hedge fund manager, who has made it his life's work to end racially conscious admissions programs in the higher ed context. This is clear politicization of DOJ's work.
For those following, this now marks 4 suits challenging racial diversity in the higher ed context. Other suits involve Harvard, University of North Carolina and University of Texas at Austin. We're involved in all 3 cases. We will fight to beat back these ill-conceived efforts.
