I was a kid in 1965, but I remember how some people talked about those who were being beaten by the police--pretty much the same hate speech that Trump supporters use now about protesters. Think: intergenerational hate. And these people are teaching their own kids the same thing.
Images of peaceful protesters being assaulted by troopers were broadcast across the globe & pushed Congress to adopt the Voting Rights Act of '65.
