According to a statement by the Rancho Cordova PD, the cop who assaulted this child "recovered tobacco product." The use of excessive force against Black and brown people remains a threat even during a pandemic. The statement really skips over why the officer started punching the kid and gets straight to "[t]his type of situation is hard on everyone--the young man, who resisted arrest, and the officer, who would much rather have him cooperate." As if they are comparable.
