States like Louisiana are adopting restrictions on abortion that will have a harsher impact on Black women. 61.2% of women who accessed abortions in Louisiana in 2018 were Black women. Our brief provides a racial justice framework for understanding these latest attacks.

Act 620 imposes significant barriers to Black women’s ability to access abortion services. Because Black women are disproportionately low-income in Louisiana, they are half as likely to be able to travel between 25 and 50 miles for abortion care.
