I'll bet they dont bar people who owe back taxes, though, as that would tend to hit people with money rather than the po' folks, who usually have their taxes automatically deducted from their paycheck.
Too many people in our democracy are barred from voting b/c they have unpaid court fines & fees. In 7 states: AR, AZ, AL, CT, KY, TN and FL- laws explicitly prohibit people who owe court debt from voting.
