I've never understood all the rules around women's tennis outfits in the first place. It's a *sport*, not a fashion show. Wasn't it last year they had to get permission (!) to alter the skirts that were hampering players?

She is a powerful independant woman. That tournament needs her more than she needs them. She should make a stand.

Nice try. It’s a Grand Slam event. No one player is more than the event. Federer not being there hasn’t kept people from going so Serena would not either. I play a lot of tournaments and tennis attire is required. If it is medical, she should be able to wear it without question.
