Today, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act was introduced in the House. It will provide the tools it needs to protect voters against racial discrimination in voting. It is time for Congress to pass this bill and the For the People Act.

The Attorney General is the people's lawyer, not the president's. Judge Garland's conduct in last week’s hearings make it clear: he will restore the integrity and independence of the Justice Department. I was proud to vote to move his nomination forward today.
