I just started watching @Deathsie ‘s twitch stream and he’s one of the best Shudderwock players out there (and you know how much I love the deck). Check out this video for some great advice on this archetype.https://twitter.com/geeksehh/status/1022496247532277760 …

That's interesting. As someone that has only gone against that deck, it seems incredibly easy to pilot. I'm smart enough to know I'm over-simplifying! Stall, heal, combo, Shudderwock. How much more is there to it?

I think that’s a huge reason why the HSReplay w/r stats on the deck are low. People pilot the deck very linearly in every matchup, when in reality, when played properly, each games win condition can look very different.

Can you give me an example of what you mean? I think there is a similar misconception that Aggro Decks are mindless, when there are many decisions that go into when to trade, hedging against possible board clears, etc.

The video above gives some great examples. In short, you may win on tempo alone with keleseth procs and minion chip damage, others by outvaluing your opponent with Hagatha cards, others by just generating card advantage and controlling the board, and the rest with full combo

Yes, Hagatha makes that deck miserable to face because it's another out for them if pieces of their combo are buried at the bottom the deck. It typically extends the game, which either allows them to get the combo or survive with other tools.

The other thing is that you're only seeing the results of the plays, not the decisions that need to be made. So the plays may line up well against you but there are a lot of small decisions along the way like when to play combo pieces versus draw versus address the board.

Yes, I will say when it's clear I'm facing Shudderwock - that knowledge puts me on a clock the entire game. It changes the way I play. I have to take chances because there's no late-game options to win against Shudderwock (with decks I typically play).

So knowing Shudderwock is coming (sooner or later) changes the game for both players. That's what I mean by it seems easier to pilot. My options as an opponent feel quite limited in terms of how I can win the game.

Actually, do you mind if I use this as a jumping off point for Off Curve? I'm (hopefully) recording an episode tonight and I actually went through a very similar learning process vis a vis Kingsbane Rogue in wild that could be helpful, but less so 280 characters at a time. :)
