My point was that positive thinking is not always a choice. Positive thinking can be extremely difficult for those with certain neurochemical imbalances, for example. Furthermore, positive thoughts often flow effortlessly for those with naturally well balanced brain chemistries.

While I do agree that the nature of conscious free will may one day be explained by future biology, I don’t think that it is always relevant to issues with positive thought. One cannot mend a dopamine/serotonin deficit any more than one could mentally summon an apple for a snack
