The Chiefs, of course, were named after Mayor Bartle, nicknamed “The Chief”, who took a chance on Lamar Hunt’s new football team. The mascot is a raccoon (don’t ask me why), but I will grant that in spite of all this, the tomahawk chop is still performed at games. It’s unseemly.
