I've done some cursory profiling, it seems like improvements are centered on collections + strings manipulation (and I suspect the transport layer but it's harder to estimate because IIS relies on the native http.sys)

We're in the middle of migrating one of our biggest apps (5000+ servers) to .net core. In yellow is CPU usage for .net framework + . In green is .net core 3.1 + aspnetcore. We've migrated other apps but it's the first time we see such a dramatic improvement

Is anybody aware of an alternative to /@corefxissues for the dotnet/runtime repository?

When developing for aspnetcore/kestrel, keep in mind that the same HttpContext instance is reused for all the requests on a given HTTP connection (in case of keep-alive). If not, in the worst case scenario, you might end-up replying to the wrong request:

Just when I thought I was getting the hang of debugging async causality chains, I'm facing my first case with an IValueTaskSource involved. I miss those blissful days.

Can relate to some of the points mentioned here. I find the Pomodoro technique helps depending on what I'm working on Harnessing the Power of Shower Thoughts

I'm proud to say that my presentation at DotNext next week has a 4:3 ratio "number of pictures of cute animals/number of slides". It's important to focus on things that matter.

Aaaaand the issue fixed itself while I was investigated the most likely suspect (explorer.exe). Oh well.

I can guess that it's related to Windows thumbnail cache and one process isn't releasing the mutex, but I'm not sure how to find which one. Gonna be an interesting afternoon.

My Surface is in a weird state where many processes (including taskmgr and procexp) are frozen. Debugger shows that they're all stuck on CThumbnailCache::_AcquireInitializationMutex. Does it ring a bell?

By the way, I'll be at next week in Moscow to talk about -you guessed it- debugging. For those who can't attend, DotNext talks are usually recorded and available a few weeks after the conference. For the others, see you there!
