#HK CRACKDOWN WATCH UPDATE: Lawyers say 96 protesters arrested on 9/29 will be charged with ‘riot’ at West Kowloon Court tomorrow (10/2). This will more than double the number now charged with ‘riot’, 77.

This case is similar to that of the 44 arrested in Sheung Wan on 7/28 & charged 2 days later w ‘riot’. A recent hearing of that case showed police haven’t yet gathered the evidence to proceed to trial. In other words, these ‘riot’ prosecutions are political in nature...

...first arrests are made, then a political decision is made to designate situation a ‘riot’, then charged are brought. This is an abusive practice that must stop, esp bringing arrestees directly from jail to court to be charged without sufficient evidence.

Police say they’ve arrested over 100 people today. They also arrested 51 people in 48 raids over the last two days. That would bring the total number of protest arrests since 6/9 to over 1,700. With 96 charged w riot tomorrow, at least 309 in all will have been charged.

Police continue to insist the shooting victim was shot in the shoulder (Police Commissioner just repeated this assertion in his press con) even though the leaked X-ray shows the bullet passed between heart & lung. I guess police aren’t great at anatomy.pic.twitter.com/VgRQjEhIQt

Police Commissioner says the shooting victim has been arrested for assaulting police. (Separately, I’ve heard the bullet’s been removed from the boy’s body & it looks like he won’t die.)

Police Commissioner updated the number of arrests today from the ‘over 100’ announced earlier to ‘over 180’. That would be the largest single-day total so far & overall about 1,780 protest arrests since 6/9, with the number rising rapidly. They can’t arrest us all, can they?

It would be nice if someone could tell the world what the 'protests' are actually about? What do they want? It was originally the Extradition Bill, what now??
#HongKongProtests -
You know you could have Googled this in less time than writing that tweet, right? Also, they are protests.
