Excited about this new preprint, where we show that temporal expectation enhances perception by speeding up decision onset while leaving the decision process itself unaffected! Led by the fabulous !

Our new study by : When people disagree the brain becomes less sensitive to the strength of the other’s opinion, making it easier to reject strong opposing views. 1/4

Another example of apparent breath-modulated perception I found a few years ago. Push or pull the London tube towards you with rapid rhythmic breathing. Probably head and eye movements. HT

Yea I’m a physicist by education and do neuro now....but do I still remember the essential fundamentals of physics? No. But can I pick up a thermo or quantum mechanics book and quickly get back up to speed? Also no.

I retweeted this because I like reminders of how attitudes to gays and lesbians have shifted in my lifetime, without reflecting on the fact that for many, particularly deaf and disabled people, this is still a reality.

We are excited about this work because (amongst others), it adds to the growing realization that internally computed confidence signals play a key role in the selection and adjustment of decision policies! 5/5
