My heart is bursting. On the eve of my first child's birth, my dad - who's been in prison nearly my entire life - was granted clemency. He never intended harm, yet his crime devastated many families. My heart breaks for the families that can never get their loved ones back.

and then there's the other side , where justice has totally taken away from the victims families forever. but you are so happy for the murderer's freedom. your heart is dark.

He was 36 when he went in and he’s 76 now. I don’t see how a few more years locked up before he dies of old age takes away from the punishment.

Yes, totally. He drove the getaway car in a crime in which two cops and a security guard were killed. It’s truly horrible for their families forever. I still don’t understand how him dying in prison makes the world safer or truly brings anyone lasting peace.

We disagree on the concept of justice and the purpose of punishment. In my view, the number of people that cannot be rehabilitated is extremely small and very few people should spend their entire lives in prison. Especially US prisons that cause the world more harm than good.

who said we want rehabilitation for murdering someone? it's irreversible. the damage is done deep into victims. the payment is losing the freedom for rest of life. end of story. they shouldn't be allowed back to society.
