Should go without saying: reporters of color shouldn't have their jobs threatened for speaking out about mainstream media failures to properly cover and contextualize issues of race. What's the point of bringing diverse experiences and voices into a room only to muzzle them?

Let’s make sure we highlight that the girls accepted the performance this year after a TON of Black (women) performers said no to support Kap. So if I don’t come across as “chipper” about it, it’s because I wish more people actually gave a damn about Black lives.

Dear Black graduate student, Do what the fuck you gotta do to maintain your peace and get what you want from this experience. Take a mental health absence. Tell your professor you gone need that extension. Ask for a slight plug for that job. Your non-Black peers certainly are!

Y’all REFUSE to be a safe haven for your children on some “the real world won’t coddle them” bullshit. Of course it won’t, that’s why they need to learn what love looks like so they can recognize when they’re being treated badly. Don’t normalize pain and disappointment.

I keep noticing that land acknowledgments retain a very settler orientation. Referring to indigenous people as having ‘owned’ or ‘occupied’ the land reflects the core belief that land is property, & not a set of ecologies to which there is a stewardship relation/responsibility.
