1/ Some big news: Our Bremerton-Seattle route has been selected as the design route for a fully electric fast ferry!
In 2020, KT and our partners were awarded an FTA innovation grant to complete a proof of concept report for a high-speed electric passenger ferry.

2/ The selection of the Bremerton route means that the vessel will be designed to complete a full round trip through Rich Passage on a single battery charge.

3/ What’s next? Kitsap Transit and our partners have been selected to apply for a new grant that would potentially pay for the full design of this conceptual vessel!

4/ We still have a lot of work to do in this conceptual phase, including researching battery size, shore-side infrastructure needs and what it would take to charge the vessel at the Bremerton dock. Wish us luck as we apply for funding to take this project to the next phase!

To reiterate, this vessel is still conceptual at this time. For more info on this project, check out our news release from 2020: bit.ly/3fRzhmC

Hi David, this project is still in the conceptual phase. KT and our partners have been selected to apply for a grant that could fund full design, but we have some more work to do first. This means that the vessel, if constructed, would be designed to operate the Bremerton route.

Looks like is going to have to re-do his Seattle transit speedrun. Also, needs to add in the water taxi from West Seattle next time.
