Worse functioning democracy when you import people from countries with worse democracies. Where do institutions come from? https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0261379417300811 …pic.twitter.com/9DDKgJxY4s

Seems like a bloody stupid idea for a paper. Count of allegations seems completely exposed to bias due to bigotry or xenophobia. Come back when there's a paper on cases of confirmed electoral fraud.

Where there's smoke there's often fire. To say that this is not always the case is obvious, but to also say that we can't study smoke when we don't have data about fires is quite antiscientific.

Ok, but how do you control for the other effects that determine reporting/allegations?

If you had enough Albanians move in, you'd _be_ Albania. This is both obvious and generally rejected, which means we have a lot bigger problem than a surfeit of Albanians, bad though that would be.

Apparently similar things happen when you import people from Autocratic countries, and it has lasting effects on voting and social cohesion https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0147596717300951 …

The muslim world are endogamous and they see the world outside the family as a world of strangers. It gives an absent of a civil society that is the basis for democracy with trust and association to others.
