Friend was diagnozed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, so I'm looking around to try to estimate likely utility of getting the cancer sequenced in so far as this can inform treatment choice. Pretty bullish in general on cancer genomics for treatment but looking for some case stories

This young
#pancreaticcancer patient had a rare ALK fusion - made him eligible for surgery when chemo wasn’t working https://www.pancan.org/stories/survivors/discovery-rare-mutation-gives-survivor-options-hope/ … via@PanCAN -
Thanks. That's the kind of story I am looking for.

Most people won’t benefit from tumor sequencing, and if they do benefit, it is very rarely in the curative sense. We know that; we knew that going into to PMI/All Of Us. Just take a look at the numbers from the non randomized NCI MATCH trial/. They aren’t good!

Imagine what the numbers would have been if MATCH were randomized. What’s worse is that the taxpayers spent $30M on MATCH. https://www.biocentury.com/bc-extra/clinical-news/2018-05-16/nci-match-arms-fall-short-asco-abstracts …

Thanks for this. Quote small numbers of patients generally. I don't expect a miracle, only that one can get lucky if sequencing reveals mutation with known drug available.

No problem. Best wishes!
