What would be the "right goals" in your opinion?

Lifespan. Health insurance relatively unimportant to actual health, schools don't do all that much, and freedom from violence is implicit in longer lifespan and most people don't suffer much serious violence anyway.
-
Ha, sounds like you're quite judgemental about people who have other priorities as you? What are you basing your empirical claim on that good schools don't do much and that most people don't suffer much violence?
-
There's tons of negative evidence about schooling stuff. Review review by Bryan Caplan covers much but not all of it. Twin studies of classroom effects find nothing despite huge samples. Large cross-sectional studies generally find minor effects of schools despite bias in design.
-
Are you talking about research in low- and middle-income countries or within the OECD?
-
Western countries.
-
My question was not limited to rich countries.
