Antonio Regalado continues his series of quite accurate & up to date reporting on the future of genomics. Liberal eugenics is upon us. Ban it and other countries will use it for extreme competitive advantages, and your citizens will fly there for treatment https://www.technologyreview.com/s/610339/dna-tests-for-iq-are-coming-but-it-might-not-be-smart-to-take-one/ …

Not at all. A 20% IQ predictor will be reported this year. Progress is mostly held back by lack of data sharing and bad methods. If researchers started using proper methods, they would see more progress. Cf.https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2017/10/07/190124 …

Depends on what you mean by short term. Projections of impact of embryo selection is difficult because it depends on the uptake and the future effectiveness. I think the latter will be high, but uptake is hard to guess at.

One could probably optimize things further with CAT, but in the broad perspective and current practice, DNA will win because it gives you a measure (imperfect too) of every other heritable trait for which a predictor exists.

Looking up prices for a professional psychologist to administer an IQ test in Denmark, typical price is 3000-4000 DKK, i.e. 500 to 660 USD. Even commercial DtC sellers for microarrays go for 99 USD, likely to drop more.

Lol u have clearly not used any existing genetic testing products. They are WAY more expensive than a multiple hour psychological test.

The UK Biobank does their genotyping for ~$25 a head, and that was years ago. You know any psychologists qualified to give IQ tests at <$10/hour wages?
