It's just the usual latent trait modeling vs. network modeling conflict. I don't think networks are plausible for cognitive abilities, but they are for psychiatric issues. In any case, not so important for practical purposes which theory is right, it's a bit metaphysical.

Yeah, aware of network models and their basic mechanics--particularly as my focal area is psychiatry/psychopathology. Why not plausible for cog abilities?
