It's been a convenient excuse to blame religion, but actually, if you look at the elementary, middle & high schools in America, you'll find that biology’s central organizing concept is barely taught. Start teaching it might be a good idea.
Low prior that teaching evolution makes people believe it when it is contentious. Generally, telling people to believe stuff in school is not so effective.
