I'd expect nutrition to have some effect, but I'm not aware of how much of one. Re brain size
It begs the question. If nutrition matters and mothers differ in it, why is that? Where do eating habits come from? It's a potential genetic confound, cannot be assumed to be otherwise. (@JayMan471)

If one wants to explain smaller black brains by maternal nutrition, this may be so. Hereditarians will point out that maternal behavior is also heritable and probably also differs by race for genetic reasons, so maternal eating behavior is a genetic mediator, not inde. cause.
