Does yelling in sports work? n=50 repeated measurement. Weird: experts in martial arts don't have stronger hand grip strength?)https://lib.dr.iastate.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&httpsredir=1&article=1664&context=etd …pic.twitter.com/LYIVTvtWdk

Anyone who powerlifts knows yelling works.

Experts and martial arts are vague terms. More sampling info needed (which arts for example). Also, if you are novice, you might be unwilling to test yourself unless you have some reason to think you would do good. Possible sampling problem.

Sounds like they were recruiting from athletic types as the 'novices' if I'm reading the recruitment section right. A difference might not be expected there: if one switched from weightlifting to martial arts for a change of pace, perhaps one's handgrip strength would even fall.

I wonder if yelling helps more with expressions of power than strength.
