Not a biologist- what’s the issue w reusing figures? Is the idea that this would detect ppl who publish the same study in difft journals? Isn’t that already a bit obvious for well-cited ppl? Seems like an interesting idea but don’t quite get the application.

the fraudulent use is if you take the picture from one treatment and then pretend that it shows another treatment. One pic may have label "Halo3 cells treated with aleph" and the recropped pic in another figure/paper might say "Halo4 cells treated with beta"
