New study (N>63k) shows that atheists are better at reasoning than religious believers & that this relationship is strongest in 'cognitive conflict' tasks. Also shows remarkable consistency across various cultures, age groups, & education levels! https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2017.02191/full …pic.twitter.com/GUbyMKEQKY

What are the units of "Performance"? What is the actual effect size?

Why don't you just read the paper? :p

OK, I really should be using my time more productively, but see the 2nd paragraph of the Discussion. I agree with that interpretation, and that is in line with my previous review of the related literature. tl;dr: More BS claims about links between religiosity and intelligence.pic.twitter.com/mZUINTOwRr

This finding of weak to medium negative association has been found numerous times. I also found it in analyzing OKCupid dataset (section 5.2.1, https://openpsych.net/paper/46 ). So, no idea what you mean about BS.

Maybe there's a statistical difference, but what is the difference in practical terms? Are you claiming that a 1-3 point difference on a flawed IQ scale is meaningful in any practical way?

The meaning is the same as for all other of these small differences. It usually doesn't matter but in extreme populations, it matters. Most top scientists are atheists, for instance. (Less reliable IQ tests yield smaller gaps, so if that's your criticism, it has the wrong sign ;)

Sorry, I still think this research path is a strongly-held hypothesis desperately seeking the data to validate it.

Your criticism doesn't make any sense to me. There's a large literature on the relation between various cognitive ability and cognitive preference variables and lack of religious beliefs and behavior. Studies are large, no evidence of major p-hacking or publication bias issues.
