No I don't doubt it would be a problem-- I'm just looking for a more scholarly paper that examines the various issues that are overlooked and the problems that would arise etc.

Understood. Yes, I'd prefer to make the argument more rigorous too, although I no longer really think people are convinced by argumentation. Anyway, if I recall @KirkegaardEmil and @phl43 have done work linking violence in Western Europe with large influx of refugees.

If it's true that illegal immigrants to the U.S. use more social services, then that's an economic argument. There's the additional fact that 30+ countries are building or have built border walls/fences.

It strikes me as obvious that mass immigration would inevitably change the culture of a country, and, moreover, that countries have the right to maintain their culture (within reason). But I realize this is somewhat speculative.
