Ok, I'll bite. In the honor of John Stuart Mill, I will read one of the media are not biased/actually right-wing biased books. Any better contenders? Jewish liberal academic arguing media are really right-wing biased. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0465001769/ … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Alterman …pic.twitter.com/ZhkhAWOGb7

That’s astonishingly antisemitic. How does it matter that they’re Jewish? Why report their religion & not their sex or sexual orientation?

There is nothing anti-Jewish in my tweet. You must be reading something I'm not reading.

It does certainly sound anti-Jewish in that context, as it (at least in my eyes) implies that the fact that it was written by a Jew will affect your judgment of the content.

There's another interpretation too: White Nationalists often criticize Jews for their part in the (alleged) left-wing media bias. So pointing out that some guy is exactly in that group arguing what they say is relevant even if only to their media bias models.

For instance, if we survey all the people writing 'media are not biased' type books. Will Jews be over-represented there compared to similar books? Seems to me that their models predict 'yes'. I don't know what the answer is, but would be informative no?

Yeah but causality is a tough question here, so I'm not sure how one would get to a meaningful interpretation. Lots of factors determining political view points, careers in media...

Not sure what causal effects white nationalists assume, as I don't have any among my friends. But a Jewish media conspiracy sounds a bit like a causal claim based on a correlation that might be confounded...

I agree. My personal hypothesis for Jews in media is due to their verbal ability tilt + high general intelligence. This means they should end up in high V type jobs disproportionately: media, doctors, lawyers, social science. Can be tested with e.g. major-level SAT/GRE data.

Out of curiosity, would that be an acceptable white nationalist explanation? More Jewish people in such jobs because they're simply smarter?

Presumably an explanation based on ethnic nepotism, or seeking world world domination. I haven't yet read the books by MacDonald. Maybe SSC should do one of those "in a nutshell" posts on them if he dares. :p https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Culture_of_Critique_series …

In the spirit of the original tweet, it would of course be interesting to read a rebuttal book too. Only I can't stand moralistic tracts and most criticism of WN thought is very moralistic in tone. So maybe it will be hard to find (?).

I found this review/summary, endorsed by MacDonald himself. Basically, seems like he did some not too rigorous analyses to make broad claims about mean trait differences. http://www.heretical.com/miscellx/culturec.html …
