Has anyone seen an FOI on @TeachFirst budget recently ?If getting £ for research, that needs to be reviewed if they engage in science denial

Wouldn't some of my work mean we do have evidence (so far) on raising intelligence in some ways? Not everything works and nothing permanent
-
Some evidence, yes. I think we are in agreement that it is not totally convincing and that top priority is doing a big-ass RCT to find out.
-
I would settle for more RCTs and pre-registering them too

On a day when
@michaelgove got it wrong and apologised, perhaps a TF should too? -
The day I apologise for saying you can raise children's ability is the day I leave education.
-
But that is not at issue. Quite clear we can ++ raise children's ability, much less clear we can yet consistently raise aptitude, i.e. IQ
-
What's the difference between ability and aptitude? (And yes it a absolutely is the issue- which is why I'm so sensitive on this).
-
Aptitude is potential ability, which may or may not be currently expressed. Ability is being able, at a point in time, to do something.
-
Better to call these "skills". One can obviously raise skills, e.g. teach people to program. But no strong evidence one can raise GCA.
-
How does average improve over time?
-
Seems people here are confusing relative cognitive abilities and absolute cognitive abilities-The idea you can’t raise the latter is bizarre
