Siberian Fox added,
Perhaps, but someone needed to write the reference post, so we can all just cite that and move on.
yep, yep, I thank you for it! Just that it's a shame bad science journalism spreads so fast
See if you can find some newer studies that report these sex-disaggregating family links. I wasn't able to find any. Odd.
only one I can recall is http://sci-hub.cc/10.1007/s10519-015-9730-x … which uses adoption data to claim prenatal environment is important for IQ
(not sure if you disagree with it or didn't know about this one, I know you don't believe there is much evidence for in utero effects)
The original claim is about sex-linked genetics, adoption studies are irrelevant.
yeah, I'm just saying the most recent one I know does find higher mother-offspring correlation, but interprets it as non-genetic
Loehlin probably sees IQ as polygenic enough to dismiss the X chromosome mechanism, aside from a few diseases like you say.
His study is way too imprecise for this kind of thing. His paper is a how-to paper for people with larger samples.
okay, even though I suspect there is not a bigger version of this one comment, I appreciate your judgment of the paper.
