Good match indeed. There's a population of mentally vulnerable people who can be swayed into fitting the latest fad in psychiatry.

They are also easily confused and have unclear identities, hence easy to mold into the new diagnosis, the vagueness of which helps too.

Ironically, fairly rigid social roles/stereotypes would probably be a good idea for these people, the opposite of what the advocates desire
