It's one thing that one can publish science that hasn't been properly vetted, essentially misusing public fundings for research,
but putting people behind bars? That should require a higher bar of evidence that includes at least independent code review and open data.
Afaik the problem is even worse w other methods. Fingerprints not as clear as many thunk. Hair analysis, bitemarks even worse.
And methods used for decades to determine if fire was started artificially complete bogus. Many convictions....
