Self-selected self-pitying garbage. No high IQ longitudinal studies support any decreased happiness - not Terman, SMPY, TIP, Hunter etc.
That article cites the Terman study.
I said happiness, not suicide. Many abnormalities w/suicide as a proxy. eg sunnier days cause better mood - and more suicides.
Not to mention Durkheim: more developed countries have suicide spikes. Want to argue economic progress, wealth, health, and longevity bad?
SMPY does support increase in mental issues in the far right tail, but this is way beyond 135.
It's still surprising that we don't have strong evidence that higher IQ is associated with greater happiness.
Between countries it is, but only weakly so within countries. Tinkering with happiness is not so easy as material gains.
But why not? Higher IQ should make it easier to evaluate potential mates, avoid stupid stuff, make long-term plans, exercise, eat right.
