Do you know if there are genetically informative studies re. parent absence for more important traits? e.g. crime, education, IQ, income

There are some, but such studies are essentially impossible to really do (no way to remove confounds).

Then you get child-to-parent confounding. Like I said it's impossible to remove confounds.

Not at all. Check child parent congruence for sibs who differ in parental exposure. Did that already in a big Swedish study.
