I find its really common that people argue based on hh income. Also common to ignore changes in demographics.
The use of hh income is particularly silly since obviously these units are not comparable over time. Same as %college degree.

For these to be sensible, must assume persons/hh is constant, or at least the ratio between groups is constant -- none of which is the case.

For education, one must assume a constant distribution, whereas the distribution is markedly changed, and so are the relations to correlates
