Why Github? He could put code etc. on OSF. Seems more appropriate. Github has a large time cost in learning and use.

Not good argument. 1) Much interest is unseen by you, 2) repos work as a backup for yourself as well. Always upload major projects to repo!

Another easy option is published R notebook on e.g. Rpubs. Shows all the code, tables, figures etc.
