How many times must I tell you people that Twitter is not a discussion forum? Apparently, still more times. @sanderwagner @pnin1957

I don't want 30 notifications. If you want to openly discuss, use a forum. e.g. https://openpsych.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=4 …

Hereditarian model predicts one thing, environmental model another thing.Surely the results tell us something?

It's an empirical question. Hereditarian model predicts that appearance is unrelated to outcome differences between siblings.

For some evidence for the hereditarian model see http://humanvarieties.org/2013/02/22/colorism-in-america-1/ … and http://www.public.asu.edu/~lstein2/research/mill-stein-skincolor.pdf …

Skin color or skin color genes etc. can be added as a covariate to the model.

Af-American sibs have different shares of white & black ancestry. 1 sib is 20% white, another 25%. Does the diff corr w/ IQ?

Unless appearance genes are pleiotropic with IQ genes, they won't confound the sibling design.

It's not based on self-identification but classifications by census officials when children.

The point of the study would be to examine the effect of ancestry on IQ while holding race constant.

I disagree. You can use either covariates like skin color or compare siblings.

taking Emil out of mentions coz he asks so. Do you mean that results could still be due to 'colorism' and not neurophysiology?

The logic is well explained in this paper, section 4 about between and within-family correlations: http://arthurjensen.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Uses-of-Sibling-Data-in-Educational-and-Psychological-Research-1980-by-Arthur-Robert-Jensen.pdf …

The majority of population variation for any behavioral var is generally between siblings, i.e., sibling correlation is <0.5.

In the Mill & Stein study there was plenty of variation to get stable estimates:pic.twitter.com/S2dqGtGYHa

Excellent point! Also, I'm multiracial, so can my left arm or some equivalent % get college free?
