How large a volume of material do we need if we want to build a 3cm thick Dyson sphere at the mean distance between E and V from the sun?
Meaning that even if we used all the inner planets and all the moons and asteroids, we don't have enough material. :P

Gases are easy, but for hard materials, getting to the core of the giants to get minerals means absurdly high pressures

Maybe easier to just make them from fusion if we have a lot of gas?

That would be one option. Jupiter has over 300 Earth massees. Given enough energy, and a better understanding of fusion

Yes, but if we have 'near infinite' energy (massive amounts of fusion), this may not be that big of a problem.
